New Gioteck FR5 Racing Wheel For DualSense Controllers

February 20, 2025 By Dan Thornton Leave a Comment

If you’re currently playing PC or console racing games with a controller and can’t justify the switch to a cheap force feedback wheel, or want something for younger racers to start getting used to, the new Gioteck FR5 Racing Wheel for DualSense controllers could be a useful answer.

It’s not the first gaming wheel to let you dock a controller inside. But it does offer 220 degrees of steering and an auto-centering mechanism, along with dual metal bearings to keep the steering smooth and frictionless. Plus it can be used by gripping the wheel, using the lamp mount, or with a table or desk clamp.

Compatible with the PS5, and with a PC if you’re using a DualSense controller, the FR5 is 20cm high, 23cm wide and 22cm deep. And at £39.99, you’d need to be scouring Facebook marketplace and eBay for a while to find a good entry-level sim racing wheel for a similar price.

It’s not the most attractive hardware you’ll ever see, or a replacement for your direct drive wheelbase and selection of experience wheels. But it could be handy for split screen racing alongside your sim rig. And to be fair, a lot of fast sim racers are able to get respectable results using a controller or the most simple solutions, so it’s certainly possible that it could get you out of the iRacing Rookies on a PC.

The timing fits particularly well with the recent launch of My First Gran Turismo, the streamlined and more approached free version of the series. And the announcement that Forza Horizon 5 will be released for the PlayStation 5.

The Gioteck FR5 Racing Wheel for DualSense controllers will usually cost you £39.99, although it’s currently on sale at Argos for £29.99 until 25th February 2025.
